What grew this summer
Eight out of eight designers this summer said the same thing: without Design Garden, their project would not have gotten as far as it did.
These designers buckled down, and stopped putting their goals on the back burner. I’m really proud of them.
Riya built her dad a video agent.
Her dad is a TikToker in Nepal selling kurtis. Filming and editing his videos cost him one to two hours a night after a full workday, time away from the fam. So Riya built him an agent: he sends a raw video and a name, and gets back an edited cut with a clean caption. A 1:36 video comes back at 0:37. It runs over WhatsApp now.
She started without AI on purpose, to understand the problem first. Then she kept the one thing that makes her dad him: the head nod he opens and closes every video with. She automated his workload without automating away the part that makes him recognizable.
"What you need is clarity. You have to say what you want and what you don't want."
Jacob finished with a full-time job and two young kids.
He came in with a rough address-lookup idea. He left with Buildable — a tool that pulls real zoning data, walks homeowners through setbacks, and lets them place a backyard home on a canvas before showing next steps. He caught an accuracy problem mid-sprint, fixed it, and rebranded when the scope outgrew the old name.
“The accountability from deadlines was huge. I accomplished a lot more than I thought I could.”
Tashana went first, with swagger.
She came in intimidated by AI tools and closed the season presenting a full vegan body care brand — logo, typography, color, packaging, the whole system, consistent and with flair. I've known her since before Design Garden existed. This time she went first. Being a designer is more than just design, it’s about having confidence behind your work.
“I surprised myself. I even did a mini presentation to my 4 year old daughter right afterwards!”
